1. If your kids are competitive, there’s a better spot than here for them.
The sports facilities on the island are, in all honesty incredible. Its National Sports Centre in Douglas has a world-class athletics track. It also houses a an amazing gym, swimming pool and a programme of activities that will keep your eager Mark Cavendishs and Zoe Gillings busy.
Each year, the Manx Youth Games encourages kids to play in different activities, helping to develop their skills and abilities. From gymnastics for young youngsters from archery lessons to snorkeling and tag rugby. The kids will have the chance to experience it!
2 But if they’re into technology, then that’s awesome too.
The majority of the island’s economy is made up of tech-related companies, encouraged to set up their headquarters in the country through the state. So, with that in mind, there are plenty of places for children to begin learning coding and developing VR (virtual reality) capabilities early!
Code Club has volunteers working with kids to share coding and tech secrets – and encourage them to try their own tech projects – and is an excellent place for kids to get busy with their Javascript.
3 There’s a shortage in teachers and nurses.

4. The scenery is breathtaking.
And schools all over the island encourage their pupils to be in the nature as much as they can.
“Green classrooms” are an integral part of every school curriculum that allows children to be taken outside and encouraged to be independent and think about and comprehend what is happening that surrounds them. There are plenty of mountain biking, sailing and diving clubs guaranteed to help them appreciate the beauty of their environment.
5 There’s a genuine sense of belonging
Everyone we met on the island shared how much they value the relationship and support they have with their neighbours. Islanders look after each other, and the activities for the community are unbeatable.
There are many clubs and groups, and the government actively supports them to grow. One of the most enjoyable can be one of them is the Community Farm where children can go to learn about animals and farming. They can also play in a true hobbit-themed house that is set into the side of the hill!
6 House prices are cheaper than the mainland
The average property price on the island is around PS300,000. as compared to London at PS636,000, and to the south-east region, which is about PS400,000.
So if you’re searching for a home for your growing family, but have been removed from the real estate market England then the Isle of Man could be an enjoyable surprise. And unlike other islands, there’s no restriction on purchasing homes in the Isle of Man.
7 But you can make it to Liverpool and London in under 2 hours
Easyjet or BA both have flights on flights to Isle of Man, and you can get to Liverpool in less than an hour and London in less than two hours. There are 50 flights that fly to and from the island daily, and daily ferry services between England and Ireland. If you’re in the market for a big-city experience, you can travel to and from the island in just a few hours!
8 There’s plenty of money to invest in education
The Isle of Man government is investing more than PS380m into infrastructure on the island. It has the construction of a new high school. constructed, and there more than 30 schools available on the island.
The Isle of Man follows the similar educational system to England – with GCSEs as well as A Levels however, they also place lots of emphasis on the “6 Rs'” that are: readiness; relationships that are positive, resourcefulness, recalling abilities; and reflection, which is and a more holistic approach to learning.

9 The crime rate is low
It is believed that the Isle of Man is the most secure place to live in the British Isles, according to the crime performance statistics, and it has one of lowest crime rates in Europe.
Experts believe it’s due to the pride of the people in their local communities, as well as their heritage – everyone we talked to said that they rarely locked their doors, and they were happy with their children playing out. Everyone keeps an eye out for other people in the area, giving it a really homely feel.
10. You can also study another language!
This is right – Gaelic Manx! Bunscoill Ghaelgagh school teaches children in Manx which is a sign that they’re bilingual. The islanders themselves are happy with their diverse tradition of culture, which gives an additional layer to the island’s culture and sense of community.
