Working from home was something that most people wouldn’t have considered and, in most cases, probably wasn’t an option. But as we all know, at the beginning of 2019, COVID struck and a shift in rules, regulations and workplace procedures began, which took us all by surprise.
Those who would never have worked at home, found themselves in the comfort of their own home for months. As did a large percentage of the UK.
Here we are now at the very beginning of 2022 & it’s been a journey. Most of us have been back to the office for a little while now but return for us all is just on the horizon.
Working from home has its benefits. A different environment, comfortable working environment, and even the option to wear joggers all day. However, it did become a novelty and soon became a space not everyone found comfortable.
Working in the office has its challenges but its refreshing to have people around you, a good sense of direction for the day and being out of the house to really appreciate a different space.
So, the big question is are you ready to return to the office?
Changing your routine and getting back into the swing of things can be difficult but let’s hope the back to work checklist lends a helping hand.
Choose your outfit the night before
It’s time to dust of the business clothes and let them see the light of day. Being at home for work purposes or during lockdown, has lead to an increased amount of time in sweatpants.
Firstly, you need to find your work wardrobe. Secondly, select your favourite items and accessories. Finally, pack any other bits you need to ensure your morning will be smooth sailing.
Remember COVID must haves
Mask – check. Hand sanitiser – check. No hugs in the office – Check.
Travelling and moving around with a mask and sanitiser is pretty normal now and your workplace should have plenty of these around.
However, it’s your responsibility to make sure you feel safe and have all the necessary items you’d require if you wanted extra protection in the workplace.
Ask about desk arrangements
Before heading back into the office, it’s an idea to ask about the desk arrangement and how the office will look.
Social distancing along with acrylic desktop screens and dividers have been a popular choice when getting the office ready for staff returns. Checking this information before hand will make it clear what you should expect when back in the office and procedures which have been put into place.
If you’re not comfortable with the arrangements, you’ll have enough time to request extra security if needed.
