Should you Choose Pokémon GO Plus, Poké Ball Plus Or The Go-tcha?

  • by

The release of Poke Ball Plus has given Pokemon GO players yet another choice for improving their gaming experience and making it more simple than ever before to capture these monsters, raise the levels, and spin those Pokestops.

The first product to go on sale – the delayed Pokemon GO Plus – has been joined by three more interesting options over the last few years, and we’ll go through each one to see which one is worthy of your vote.

Pokemon GO Plus

The app was released shortly after the release of the game it self it was launched shortly after the release of the app itself. Pokemon GO Plus is a device that is placed around your wrist or attached to the clothing of your choice. It lets you interact with the game’s features without having to take the phone out of its pockets. The device has a single button, which is used to turn on Pokestops or capture monsters. A LED inside the button lets you know the situation; a blinking blue LED signifies that you’re close to the Pokestop and the green LED indicates there’s a monster that’s waiting to be captured. If the LED flashes red, it means the attempt to capture been unsuccessful, while a multicolored one signifies a successful capture.

It is powered by a single CR2032 battery that can last for months, it’s Pokemon GO Plus is a small, but useful accessory that has played an important contribution to the Pokemon GO experience since launch. Although it’s not branded as waterproof however, our device has (accidentally) been thrown through the washing machine on several occasions and has remained in perfect working order.

It appears that Nintendo is gradually removing the GO Plus now that the Poke Ball Plus is available and is currently unavailable at various retailers. As the result, units are currently increasing in price.

Go-tcha

In 2017, it was released by Datel in 2017, the Go-tcha became the initial of Datel’s attempts to enhance the fundamental Pokemon GO Plus concept. It’s based on a low-cost Chinese fitness tracker, and comes with custom software that allows it to emulate the functions of Pokemon GO Plus.

The main difference aside from the fact that it is equipped with a tiny OLED display It is the fact that the Go-tcha does everything for you automatically. it doesn’t require pressing an icon to perform actions like spinning Pokestops or catch monsters. Once you’re within proximity, the Go-tcha will do the work automatically. It may sound cheesy but there are occasions that it’s not practical to press the button on Pokemon GO Plus (when you’re driving, for instance).

The Go-tcha runs on rechargeable batteries that last about a day. You’ll have to recharge it a quite a lot. As a matter of fact, the two units we’ve got at Nintendo Life have failed and have stopped charging the batteries, and both are more than a year old and are no longer covered under Datel’s warranty.

Go-tcha Ranger

The sequel to the first Go-tcha The Ranger employs the same basic technology , but includes some cool additional features. Most noticeable is the improved stamina; the battery inside is bigger and can last for weeks We’ve had one since July and only recharged it around four times. It’s also possible to use the Ranger as a charger for your phone however it’s not able to fully recharge it to the full capacity of Galaxy S9+ so it’s not the most useful. There’s also an LED torch and compass that has helped us locate many things in darkness (dropped keys, but mostly).

Contrary to the original Go-tcha the battery of this model appears to be quite robust and is still working after 5 months of continuous everyday usage. It’s only a minor drawback that it’s rather large and can’t be worn around the wrist, as with other Pokemon GO Plus and Go-tcha devices. But it’s the main device we utilize to hunt for monsters and we don’t really see the latest Poke Ball Plus changing that.

Poke Ball Plus

Although it’s advertised as an instrument for Pokemon Let’s Go, it’s also a controller for Pokemon: Let’s Go. Poke Ball Plus can also be used as a regular Pokemon GO Plus device. When connected to your phone it will do exactly what it does with the basic version, by pressing the B button that allows users to make spins and try to catch. It does however offer an advantage over the vanilla version: when you’ve got a monster that is inside, it’ll automatically take things from close Pokestops without the need to perform any action. Bonus!

In contrast to the standard model, it’s equipped with an rechargeable battery that is, even if you’re playing Pokemon GO, lasts for several hours. The USB Type-C cable you use to charge it is supplied within the packaging.

The disadvantages are evident The negatives are obvious; this is a larger device that can’t be worn around the wrist. It’s also expensive, therefore you should be cautious of taking it outside from your house, and even losing it.

Go-tcha Evolve

At the moment, we cannot discredit the Go-tcha Evolution. It’s improved over the initial model , and the full-color display is an absolute bonus. It’s not as big however it’s not an ugly item – therefore there’s nothing wrong with wearing it while you’re out and out and about. The battery life is decent and the fact that it keeps track of your steps and assists in monster hunting makes it more attractive (especially because engaging in Pokemon GO is sure to make you more active). At the moment it appears to be the perfect device for avid Pokemon GO players.
The Verdict

Although the new and stylish Poke Ball Plus looks amazing from a style standpoint but this Go-tcha Evolve is the best option in our opinion. It’s comfortable, durable and stylish as well as the capability to charge through USB is fantastic. We give it our top vote as the best Pokemon GO companion device.
