They are essential, perhaps the most essential piece of clothing a man can have in his wardrobe. This is the reason I’ve created this list of shoes that are essential for men. Apart from ensuring the look, I’d say the majority of men should begin by purchasing a few good pair of shoes.
Ladies, it’s time to review your men’s footwear collection. what’s in your closet and what you might need.
Let’s get right to it. These are the six essential fashionable male shoes.
1. The Brown Brogue
What’s in the list of footwear that every man should have? Brogues in brown. It’s bound to become a standard in any man’s wardrobe. It’s as versatile as is fashionable. Are you up for it? The word “brogue” originates from bro, which is the Gaelic word meaning shoe. Brogues are distinguished by their distinctive perforations or punchings on the uppers of the shoes’ leather.
I suggest a semi or quarter-brogue that is dark brown color for your first pair. If you’re looking for a more sartorially-inspired pair choose the full brogue (wingtip) with a cognac/tan shade. Remember that an outfit like this will certainly draw attention and if you’re not comfortable with the attention, opt for darker brown with less broguing. This will allow you to ease into the fascinating brogues world and offer an endless selection of options to wear with jeans or wool trousers.
2. The Suede Chukka
Are you surprised to see it’s the second most popular in the rankings? There’s a reason for that.
Although not as formal as brogues on the formality range however, it is still a step above the sneaker. There is a belief that the chukka boot was the first shoe for casual dress that allows for a lot of flexibility. Chukkas are great to wear with suits, and are able to be casually worn with dark wash jeans and a white t-shirt.
The chukka is a basic shoe that has lacing open and three or more eyelets. The typical ankle-high boot made of leather or suede.
3. The Brown Loafer
Casual, comfortable, cool. Dress them up or and dress them down. Loafers are a must-have for summer. Who says you can’t wear them throughout the year?
Similar to the brogue as well as the chukka loafers go with casual and formal clothes. This versatility makes the loafer slide into my top three.
Although not advised to wear with a formal outfit, loafers can look good worn to a sports coat jeans or chinos. You can opt for the leather or suede route here. You can choose a tassel or penny. Another excellent option can be an elegant horsebit Gucci loafer with Italian origin, which is distinct by the metal strap that runs across its front. It’s sure to bring a touch of class to your style.
4. The Minimalist Sneaker
Sometimes, even the most elegant of men prefer to be casual. In a time when the casual style is still in fashion it’s a good idea to have a reliable casual shoe. Canvas sneakers are ideal for casual outings , from ball games to backyard barbecues.
I would suggest an outfit in a neutral color like beige, white , or gray. This way, you don’t have to think about what you’ll pair the pair with. It’s a given that minimalist sneakers made of canvas, suede or leather will always be trendy.
5. Oxford or Derby. Oxford or Derby
The standard Oxford as well as Derby (also known as the blucher) is my top five. The dark black Oxford or Derby is often the first pair of formal shoes a man has. I have one that was mine. It was however one with a square toe, that I would not recommend. I would recommend a more traditional round toe Oxford and Derby.
You might be wondering what’s the difference between them. In simple terms, Oxfords have closed lacing while Derbys have lacing that is open. In terms of which is more formal, the Oxford.
I would recommend a high-quality pair of Oxfords. The two major factors that make up a good pair of shoes are the price and the design.
6. This is the Brown Leather Boot
To complete the top six most stylish and fashionable shoes for men are brown boots. A pair of brown leather boots can be considered a classic and it’s not without reason.
In accordance with the style, you could easily add a touch of elegance or a sense of rebellion to your style. There are formal boots and casual work boots. Chelsea boots, chukkas or even cowboy-style boots.
