Zap Map’s core component is its user community. We love hearing from you about areas that need improvement. Sometimes we get surprised at feature requests that aren’t already on the app. We decided to compile a guide to lesser-known features of the app over the next few month, along with some quick videos to clarify.
Five things you may not know about ZapMap
1. The Symbols key is your friend
If you are new to EVs or find it difficult to understand, you can take a look at your Zap Map app‘s Symbols key. This will provide information about connector types, map markers, and connector and user statuses.

List view is not something everyone is familiar with, but it is part of the main toolbar. The list will show you the nearest charge points to you in order of their proximity. The closest one is at the top. Make sure to verify that you have selected filters.
Here you will see the User rating, the type and number of connectors, and the status of the location. You can bookmark a charger to make it easy to find later. Or, you can hit the orange arrow and go to the mapping service you prefer.
3. Contactless payments are an option to filter.
You can find charge points that will accept contactless payments via debit or credit cards – without the need for any app or special membership.
Open Filters in the app. Select ‘Payment. Next, select ‘Contactless debit/credit card’ and then press ‘Apply. Zap Map will display only chargers that accept contactless payments.
4. You can add your home charger on the Zap-Home network
You might consider adding your charger to the Zap Home network if you already have one. You can make money with your charger by sharing it with other EV drivers. You can either offer to share your charger for free or to receive payment using PayPal.
